A striking yet understated building, the Jameel Arts Centre keenly sets the focus on what happens to be the purpose of its existence: the art it housed. The independent non-profit contemporary art institution is sat on the Jaddaf Waterfront in Bur Dubai and takes inspiration form the Sha’abi houses that were scattered around the Gulf in the 70s and 80s. It aims to develop a supportive ecosystem for young artists, practitioners, art lovers and rookies to the game, to foster art practice and preserve culture. The stunningly designed Gardens represent distinct desert environments with rare plants and sculptures.
