The Dubai Creek is the city’s most iconic waterway, dividing Dubai into two boroughs — Deira and Bur Dubai. The area on one bank holds old-world charm and ancient buildings that are a stark contrast to the otherwise glittery skyline. On the other bank, the traders at the Gold and Spice Souqs market their wares as they’ve done for decades. The Creek is also home to the Abra, the city’s most affordable water taxi and an experience in and of itself. It’s a wonderful way to soak in the sights and see what Dubai was like well before it became a luxury destination.
